Sensory Integration Workshop 2:Regulation in the home environment
Sensory Integration Workshop 3: Regulation in the school environment
Many adopted and looked after children find the stimulation of the classroom setting overwhelming – it can feel too big, too noisy and they can struggle to sit still. This can lead to children becoming disruptive in the classroom. These strategies can be used for the whole class to help children and young people calm and engaged in the classroom. During this workshop Catherine will take us through various ways in which school staff can help children and young people to be calmer and be regulating in a school environment.

Introductory Workshops – Sensory Integration/Sensory Attachment Integration Model
Many of the adopted and looked after children and young people who come to Cherrycroft struggle with sensory integration and attachment issues. Our highly experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist, Catherine Elsey will be providing this series of workshops for a second time. During the first workshop Catherine introduces us to the underlying model in a highly accessible way. We welcome parents/carers, Post Adoption Social Workers and Teachers to this workshop. For the second workshop Catherine focuses on regulation strategies in the home and we ask parents/carers and post adoption Social Workers to attend. During the final workshop Catherine will focus on regulation strategies in the school setting and we ask that parents/carers and teachers attend this workshop. An Introduction to Mindfulness
Life can be stressful where we find ourselves being pulled in many different directions by the different roles we play as parent, partner, worker, family member and so on. This can leave us feeling stressed out and burnt out.
Mindfulness has gained a good evidence-base as a way of alleviating some of that stress by learning to ‘be’ in the moment by training our minds to be aware of our bodies, thoughts and emotions.
We’ve invited an accredited mindfulness teacher to provide us with this introductory session.
This is a closed session for parents who are already part of Cherrycroft. If you’d like to come along for a taster session please get in touch as spaces are limited. Please contact Taryn@cherrycroft.pro or Sue@cherrycroft.pro

PARENT WORKSHOP SERIES: UNDERSTANDING AND HELPING YOUR ANXIOUS AUTISTIC CHILD
We are very pleased and fortunate to have a clinician of the calibre of Dr Fiona Knott to present this series of workshops. Dr Knott is a Clinical Psychologist who worked for Berkshire CAMHS with children with ASD until 2014 as a senior Clinician. Currently she is a lecturer at the University of Reading where she works clinically in the Centre for Autism, and teaches undergraduate and post graduate students.
What are the workshops about?
Four linked workshops to help you understand more about your child’s anxiety and develop a tool box of strategies for them to use at home and school. Each workshop will consist of a mix of presentations from Fiona Knott, activities, and plenty of time for discussion.
Who can attend?
This series is open to parents and carers of children and teenagers who have a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder and who experience anxiety.
Format: Each workshop series consists of 4 x 2 hour workshops. Each workshop covers a different aspect so you will find it most helpful to attend all four.
Cost: £200 per participant and this cost is for all 4 workshops. Signing up to the workshops means signing up to all 4 and unfortunately, we are unable to offer a refund/reduced price for missed workshops
