Does ADHD come with superpowers?

ADHD is often defined by its challenges—difficulty with focus, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. It is defined as a disorder after all. And certainly, constantly forgetting appointments, crippling procrastination, losing your things and struggling to finish things and running on anxiety are a struggle. Let’s not forget the ‘ADHD tax’ the extra money you spend on uncancelled subscriptions, etc.
But some argue that these traits may come with advantages. Historically, restlessness and impulsivity could help humans explore or stay alert at night, or spend hours relentlessly tracking down food.
The neurodiversity movement encourages a positive view of brain differences, and ADHD is sometimes seen as bringing “superpowers” like creativity, spontaneity, high energy, and intense focus and being able to cope well in a crisis.

For me, it’s both—a mix of hard-earned resilience and real challenges.
